@welshfella

OpenStudy (welshfella):

average rate = f(2) - f(0) ------- 2 - 0 where f(2) and f(0) are the values of f(x) when x = 2 and x = 0 respectively.

OpenStudy (welshfella):

does that help?

OpenStudy (narissa):

its hard

OpenStudy (narissa):

so its 0

OpenStudy (welshfella):

its weird - I have to go out of the post then return before I can do a new entry

OpenStudy (welshfella):

No , f(2) = 4(2)^2 = ? and f(0) = 4(2)^0 = ?

OpenStudy (narissa):

16 and 0?

OpenStudy (welshfella):

well 16 is correct for f(2) f(0) = 4 * 2^0 = 4*1 = 4 recall that any number to the power 0 = 1 , here 2^0 = 1

OpenStudy (welshfella):

so the aberage rate = (16-4) / (2-0) = 12 /2

OpenStudy (narissa):

ok thanks

OpenStudy (welshfella):

* average
