OpenStudy (pupflower):

What is the slope of the line that passes through (3, −7) and (−1, 1)? Undefined 0 −2 2

OpenStudy (welshfella):

use the slope formula:- slope = (y2 - y1) / (x2 - x1) where the 2 points are (x1,y1) and (x2,y2).

OpenStudy (pupflower):

so I would do 3 - -1 then divide it by -7 - 1?

OpenStudy (welshfella):

No The other way around its the y values / x values

OpenStudy (pupflower):

oh so I flip it and do -7-1 /3- -1?

OpenStudy (welshfella):

(-7-1) / (3--1)

OpenStudy (pupflower):

is it -2?

OpenStudy (welshfella):

yes -8/4 = -2

OpenStudy (pupflower):

Thanks!
