OpenStudy (onthecly2):

I really don't know where to start with this question... Just need a push to get started with the rest of them... Given the Vectors, a = 3i+4j, b = -2i+5j, c = 10i-j, d = -(1/3)i+(5/2)j, find: a + (b − c) = ?

OpenStudy (onthecly2):

i know that for normal DOT product you would multiply the i's and the j's then add the product but that wont work here, at least not to start off with

OpenStudy (mww):

this is simply vector addition and subtraction. So you add and subtract common elements.

OpenStudy (mww):

there are no products involved. Just add and subtract as usual, collecting the i and js together.

OpenStudy (onthecly2):

so basically combine like terms?

OpenStudy (onthecly2):

omg, it's way to late to be doing math right now, thank you i think i figured it out

OpenStudy (onthecly2):

the "a + (b − c) = ?" part flew right over my head omg

OpenStudy (onthecly2):

a + (b − c) = −9i + 10j

OpenStudy (mww):

the order doesn't actually matter.

OpenStudy (onthecly2):

is the answer i just posted not correct?

OpenStudy (mww):

it's fine
