http://imgur.com/a/8MaRI Can anyone find, the length of line segment MN. It would be XY+AB/2. I know how to do it but im still having trouble. Thanks

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

got pic? since we are not seeing what MN stand for, or XY or AB

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

ok.... so hmmm notice the "tickmarks", meaning, those sides, AM, MX, XC as well BN, NY, YC, are all equal in length, let us.... call the length.. hmmm say hmmmm K also bear in mind, that the lines MN as well as the XY, makes similar triangles with the bigger one containing all so|dw:1482021475751:dw| so.. using proportions then, one could say that \(\bf \cfrac{48}{7x+4}=\cfrac{3\cancel{k}}{2\cancel{k}}\implies \cfrac{48}{7x+4}=\cfrac{3}{2}\) see that?
