Pre-reading a text primarily helps improve: Comprehension Interest Attention Span Vocabulary
well, in MY case it's probably Interest ... 'cos I have to read things many times to get their gist etc. However, I'd say that for the question it's a choice between Comp and attention span. Of those I'd go for comp
lets see the definition for each of these words! Definitions: vocabulary-the body of words used in a particular language. attention span-the length of time for which a person is able to concentrate mentally on a particular activity. interest-the state of wanting to know or learn about something or someone. comprehension- the action or capability of understanding something. Now that we know what each word means, it's easier to choose which answer makes the most sense. Pre-reading is not going to improve our vocab, or our attention span. It can help us quickly see whether or not we are interested in what we need to read, but Im sure the answer your teaching is looking for here is how you understand the text sooo. Comprehension. You can think of it like how if you're about to bake something and quickly scan over the directions, you are pre-reading them and then go back to them again later when you need to pay attention to the details
*Teacher
@knottingjay that's a well constructed argument, methinks. From a *Teacher ? (How many stars ?)
Oh lol I had made a typo and was just fixing it!! Idk if you can edit your answer or not I'm a bit new here
@knottingjay the way I do it is to copy the posted entry back into the "edit box", correct the typo, re post, and delete the post with the typo in it. When, that is, I can be bothered. Mind you, if you are a *Teacher then that's fine :) Welcome to the madhouse ....
