With deference to jdoe0001, I'd suggest that you just find the discriminant of the given quadratic. What are the coefficients a, b and c of this quadratic? Form and evaluate the discriminant\[b^2-4ac\]
If the discriminant is + there will be 2 real, unequal roots. If 0 there will be 2 real, equal roots. if the discrim. is -, there will be 2 complex roots
