OpenStudy (vennestudent):

I need to find how many bricks they would need to build a walkway around a circular pool. The bricks are 4"x8" and the pool has a radius of 15 without the walkway. With the walkway it is 20. How many bricks would they need? I'm really lost

OpenStudy (radar):

|dw:1482174485866:dw|Step 1. find area of large circle. Step 2. Find the area of the small circle. Step. 3. Subtract area of smaller circle from area of larger circle. Step 4. Convert this area (which is the circular walkway) to square inches, Step 5. Convert brick to an area...in square inches. Step 6. divide the area of the walkway by the area of a brick rounding up to the next whole number. You will need as a minimum a quantity of bricks which is larger than the number you obtained in step 6. Bricks or linear, pathway is circular so there will be some waste with spaces being filled with whatever material the bricks are being laid in concrete, sand, whatever/
