OpenStudy (alayrhi):

I will fan n medal :P The measurement of the width of a garden plot is 44 m. Its actual width is 45.5 m. What is the percent error in the measurement, to the nearest tenth of a percent?

OpenStudy (chiunlee12):

The formula for percent error: (Measured - accepted value)/accepted value

OpenStudy (chiunlee12):

(44-45.5)/45.5

OpenStudy (alayrhi):

That would be -0.032967032967033 ?

OpenStudy (chiunlee12):

Solve for that and it will give you the final answer. Not to mention this equation gives an ABSOLUTE value, meaning that the percentage will always be positive

OpenStudy (chiunlee12):

It should be correct, but remember it asks for the percentage, so you multiply your small decimal by 100

OpenStudy (alayrhi):

Ohh okay. Thanks ^_^

OpenStudy (chiunlee12):

Yeah no problem
