Do you know what dilation means?

OpenStudy (_iamcj):

make bigger?

OpenStudy (retireed):

I think you are right. But If I dilate it by 1/3, will it be bigger or smaller?

OpenStudy (_iamcj):

idk...

OpenStudy (retireed):

If I dilated something to twice the size, would it be bigger or smaller?

OpenStudy (_iamcj):

bigger

OpenStudy (retireed):

If I dilated something to a third the size would it be bigger or smaller?

OpenStudy (retireed):

Since 1/3 is the same as a third, If I dilate it by 1/3, will it be bigger or smaller?

OpenStudy (_iamcj):

i want to say bigger

OpenStudy (retireed):

Can you explain to me how something a third the size is bigger?

OpenStudy (_iamcj):

its not....nvm....i get that now lol

OpenStudy (retireed):

So they want you to make a similar shaped triangle, a third the size of the given triangle with the center of the triangle at (1. -2).

OpenStudy (_iamcj):

ok so do i make the the different points smaller by a third

OpenStudy (retireed):

actually not BY a third, but to a third... if you made it smaller BY a third, the final image would be 2/3 the size of the original. Does that makes sense?
