Now that OpenStudy is going to be permanently shut down at the end of January 2017, does this mean that the recommendation letters and volunteer certificates some users received aren't valid anymore?

The experiences you had were documented before the closure, and even if the site isn't on the 'net anymore it shouldn't be an issue. Me being one of those users that received a letter, I wouldn't see an issue if I were to apply to college and use it.

You can always save a screenshot of your numbers and stuff
then contact preetha on her linkedin - to reconfirm your recommendation letter and stuff :3
since the stuff is issued by preetha, they should be still valid for as long as you can contact preetha x'D
