A source of voltage produces an electric current by _____. A. increasing resistance in the conducting wire B. increasing the speed of electrons that are flowing C. creating a potential difference so electrons can flow
C. creating a potential difference so electrons can flow
Yes C. is correct but be careful, electron flow is relativistic! We do not know if the electron drifts or the holes, majority verses minority current carriers!...Again be careful here, relativity is alive and well just ask this q to an electrical engineer like myself or a physicist, we exist by agreeing to disagree.
@TheAdmiral - very nautical .... if electrons move to the right, say, then the gaps they leave - the "holes" move to the left as I understand the electron/hole thing from vague semiconductor conductivity memories. Then there was "effective mass", and finally there may have been relativity. "we exist by agreeing to disagree" reconciliation may be a paving slab on the way to mutual "progress" ?
