T′(8)≈[T(10)−T(6)]/[2(2)]=80−684=3.25

a.) The function is not differentiable at the point (8,73) What makes you think that the function is not differentiable? Temperature is a continuous and differentiable (smoothly changes) phenomenon. -Remark- T'(8) is an approximation since we are not given the explicit function to take its derivative. So we make a rough estimate of the derivative using the slope.

Good responses from the others. At this point, what do you still need to learn? While not required, graphing the points given in your table might be helpful in visualizing this situation. I agree with "moreso:" "Temperature is a continuous and differentiable (smoothly changes) phenomenon."
