Frozen15:

What is the reciprocal of - 3/7?

AMQ:

The reciprocal of a number is the opposite. In fractions, it is simple to find the reciprocal. This is because you just need to flip the numerator and the denominator around. Get it? @Frozen15

Frozen15:

A. -7/3 B. -3/7 C. 7/3 D. 3/7 I was thinking D since its negative to positive. I had to double check If I wasn't wrong. I understand the meaning but had just to be extra cautious of my answer :)

AMQ:

Well, the reciprocal of the number will remain negative if the original number is negative. Also, if you multiply a number by its reciprocal, the answer will always be 1.

Frozen15:

Hmmmm. So would it stay -3/7 or just switch the numbers around (A)?

AMQ:

Try this. Multiply -3/7 to all of the choices. Which one results in 1?

Frozen15:

Give me minute to that :)

Frozen15:

A*

AMQ:

Alright. :D

Frozen15:

Well that was easy! I did .. -3/7 * 7/3 and got -1 but not I switched that to a negative and got 1. so -7/3 would be my answer?

Frozen15:

cause when I used the postitive version o 7/3 I got (-1)

AMQ:

Yes, A is your answer :D

Frozen15:

Thank you a lot. You earned another fan. Ill tag you in more questions if I need more help :)

AMQ:

yeah, when you multiply a number to its reciprocal, it results in 1, and not -1.

AMQ:

My pleasure. :D

Frozen15:

Awesome thanks for the extra advice :D
