joshiscool:

Okay so i updated my computers bios to the latest version and it restarted

joshiscool:

hold on let me get the pc so i can see what it says now

Ultrilliam:

Please try to take a picture of the error message if you can

Ultrilliam:

(assuming there is one)

joshiscool:

no screen at all

joshiscool:

nothing just a blank screen

Ultrilliam:

what happens when your booting it up? I need as much information as possible in order to come to a conclusion

Ultrilliam:

also what brand/model is your laptop?

joshiscool:

acer aspire one zg5

joshiscool:

and nothing happens there is no boot it just turns on to a blank screen

Ultrilliam:

do you have the model number of the laptop?

joshiscool:

the model number is in chinese

Ultrilliam:

ಠ_ಠ

joshiscool:

no lie it say model no. but it say zg5 at the end

joshiscool:

says

joshiscool:

its have 8 ram like yours

joshiscool:

it*

Ultrilliam:

It sounds like the BIOS failed to install properly, let me see if I can figure out a way to reset it

Ultrilliam:

Do you see any GUI or anything before the bootup? or straight to the black screen?

joshiscool:

oh not to be even more of a pain

joshiscool:

but the usb ports have stopped working also and no gui just a blank screen when the bios updates thats what acer says its suppose to do so i followed the instructions

Ultrilliam:

Yup... Alright... sounds like your laptop may be a brick now... but I'll see what I can come up with.

joshiscool:

:O Nuuuuuuuu i love that laptop it was a gift from my cousin

Ultrilliam:

If the USB doesn't work then there isn't much that can be done

Ultrilliam:

do you have a CD/DVD drive on it?

joshiscool:

nope its a netbook

Ultrilliam:

I found a possible solution while searching your issue online, but if the USBs don't work... well this won't work, so just cross your fingers and hope

Ultrilliam:

I'm just going to copy paste it here: Just go to the acer website http://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles/BIOS/BIOS/BIOS_Acer_3310_A_AOA110%20&%20AOA150.zip?acerid=633850493862245097&Step1=NETBOOK,%20CHROMEBOOK&Step2=ASPIRE%20ONE&Step3=AOA150&OS=ALL&LC=en&BC=ACER&SC=PA_7 and d/load the bios update 3309, open the folder and copy two files to a formatted fat usb stick. Rename the file FLASHIT to FLASHIT.EXE and the second file 3309.fd(bios file) to ZG5IA32.FD rename them precisely like that, please check your spelling is correct. Insert the usb stick into the usb left hand side make sure the charger is plugged in . Hold down keys fn+esc and power up the laptop, when the power led begins to blink release the two buttons and press the power button just once, observe the usb stick flashing indicating it's flashing the bios, please note this can take a few attempts, I once struggled for a few hours until I finally tamed the beast :) be patient okay, I would like to point out if you wish to update within winxp use the same bios update 3309 , extract the zipped files to a formatted usb stick and rename the two files again but DO NOT REMOVE or interfere with the other files in the folder , with the laptop up and running open the folder and click on the Insysdeflash file only within the winflash file, this will flash your bios within windows and update it to the latest version, I read that flashing it when using the fn+esc keys merely restores the bios , I have tested this and mine updated to 3309 only when I flashed my bios within windows using the complete d/loaded bios update as mentioned . It will be worth reading the read me file to see what has changed in this bios version, I can tell you that for those out there that have password issues i.e. hdd set, the need to enter password with upper case is not a requirement more and there are a lot more fixes too, enjoy and I hope this bit of info was useful:)

joshiscool:

wait but can't we try that old trick where i hook a monitor to the pc and see if i can see any signs of life?

Ultrilliam:

eh

Ultrilliam:

Copy paste this into your browser: http://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles/BIOS/BIOS/BIOS_Acer_3310_A_AOA110%20&%20AOA150.zip?acerid=633850493862245097&Step1=NETBOOK,%20CHROMEBOOK&Step2=ASPIRE%20ONE&Step3=AOA150&OS=ALL&LC=en&BC=ACER&SC=PA_7

joshiscool:

i updated it to 3310 and thats when it scrashed and won't boot

Ultrilliam:

as I said, try it with those instructions, see if it makes a difference, it may not have installed properly as I previously said

joshiscool:

i think it might work cause i have been using right side sometimes left

joshiscool:

i need to get a flash drive so maybe tomorrow

Ultrilliam:

Alright, and you said you were having other troubles as well?

joshiscool:

Yes

joshiscool:

i have a dell inspiron

joshiscool:

and i was trying to install phoenix os to it and now it telling me there isn't a bootable device

Ultrilliam:

Try running a dell diagnostic

Ultrilliam:

Do you know how to do that?

joshiscool:

yes i do but it takes to long and there are already previous errors on the hard disk

Ultrilliam:

the hard drive probably failed, so run a dell diagnostic, see what is says, report the exact errors to me and i'll be able to help further

Ultrilliam:

I can't help who doesn't want to be helped

joshiscool:

i will do it

joshiscool:

it says internal error please contact tech support

Ultrilliam:

that's all it says?

Ultrilliam:

does it give any information, perhaps a reference code?

joshiscool:

Yes 3003156 and a phone number

joshiscool:

thats not all it says i shortened it

Ultrilliam:

Please give the full thing

Ultrilliam:

joshiscool:

Ultrilliam:

Ultrilliam:
