What is the oblique asymptote of the function f(x) = the quantity of x squared plus x minus 2, all over x plus 1? y = x + 3 y = x y = x − 1 y = x − 3

@Nnesha

Nnesha:

ugh something wrong with equation tool.. f(x)=(x^2+x-2)/(x+1) are you familiar with long or synthetic division of polynomials?

Nnesha:

the highest degree of top polynomial is greater than x+1, so there is a oblique asymptote. oblique asymptote is also known as slant asymptote. Apply the long division or synthetic division method. whatever you get for quotient will be the equation for oblique asymptote.

Yes I am :D and ok
