@Hero @JustSaiyan @Ultrilliam
Is this really that hard?? This is supposed to be basic 8th grade math.
Indeed... Which is why I'm trying to figure out how not to just give the answer.
It looks positive.
Well thanks.
I know this site is meant for help but right now I really just need the answers
I m not 100% sure, since I am not the best at math, but it is my best guess.
Oh wait....It is zero slope, lmao.
@JustSaiyan, you're really testing my patience.
What did I do now?
Oh I see. Let me rephrase that. It is Zero Slope, I think. lmbo
@JustSaiyan do you know anything about the rules here at all? About Direct Answers for example?
Fine. It is Zero Slope. Zero Slope is the slope of a horizontal line. The y coordinate will never match, no matter what the x coordinate is.
a zero slope is perfectly flat in the horizontal direction. The equation of a line with zero slope will not have an x in it.
How about asking a question to start with? Why not ask the user if they know the difference between the different kinds of slopes listed here. And then if they don't know, you could proceed to explain it to them.
If they new, they would probably not be posting it here for answers.
The goal is to get the user to realize what the answer is on their own WITH YOUR GUIDANCE. Of course they don't know to begin with, but you could help lead them to understanding. That's what you're supposed to be doing here.
Yes but that takes TIME something many of these people are very short on, and we can have all the time we need to explain it to them after.
I don't think in this case it would have taken much time to explain to the user the different kinds of slopes. Every user wants you believe they're in some of time crunch. And if they are, then I would ask them if they are taking a test because that's usually the case if they are in such a time crunch and I probably would not help that user. Try to find and help users who DO have the time because we don't want to encourage those who come here looking for test answers.
But that eliminates around......90% of the people here.
Which would definitely explain why there isn't anyone here.
OS started out the same way. It actually took them far longer before they started gaining users regularly. QC has already (timeline wise) surpassed OS at every facet of its existence.
The bottomline is, there is no excuse for giving direct answers. Giving direct answers entirely defeats the purpose of this site.
Yes, because this place is FUN where OS was not. There is more wiggle room in the rules here, which is why there are still users here.
And there isn't as much lag.
That's what you want to believe, but trust me, QC wants to remain steadfast to maintaining and upholding the traditions that were established with OS. It will take some time, but in the mean time, we're not necessarily trying to compromise code of conduct standards. We're just trying to be nice for the moment.
Based off of that, do you still wonder why OS went down, other than Brainly buying them out?
Well, it most certainly was not because of lack of a userbase. Bad Investments I overheard was bulk of the reason. I sure there were other things, but we've learned from OS mistakes. We're just trying to get our troops (you users) to rally behind us in support of properly building the future of QC in a way that is respectable and honorable so that when other users come here, they see a site that is FUN, but at the same time educational, respectable, and well-behaved.
Yes but how can there be fun without any lenience in the rules? Well-behaved is fine, no one wants to see porn in the chat, but there must be a little room otherwise no one will follow the rules, and it will end up like PA. Porn in the chat every week. Fights every hour. But really, you can't run it like a pre-school. Drugs and Sexuality will come up eventually, in most cases around 9th grade. If you aren't lenient no one will want to be here.
Though I was wrong to talk about LSD. I got that.
No, that's not exactly right. The people who want to clown will not to be here. The people who come here desperately needing help with their school work will be here. So it's about who we want here more than who we don't want here. If all those who want to clown and play around all day, if they all leave, then what will remain is the community of students who are about taking care of their business but know how to have a little fun in a respectable way. So you're right in a sense. Those who want to clown will not want to be here.
And that will bring the people who clowned around back, because they clowned around and didn't learn it, and they will be pressed even harder in a time limit, and be in dire need of help.
I do agree we should at the very least be a little lenient, that was my intention from the beginning, after all we don't want a tkhunny, and if there were a moderator like you taking action against me on OS because of the fact that they were very strict on the rules, I would never have existed on OS. You were the one that gave me my first moderator action against me on OS. TBH if I was really harshly acted upon, I would have never stayed on OS, because I was just a clown pretty much, and as a result I would never have gotten inspired to create QC. So yes we should be lenient to a extent, but not too lenient at the same time.
the "clowns" as you put it make the place entertaining, if it isn't for them, the people who help won't stick around to help users who are asking the questions because they will get bored of the site, it's all cause and effect hero.
there is a extent to how far you can go however. I'm not saying there isn't.
I am a bit of both. I help a lot but sometimes I just kind of hang out. Like today. I answered a few, but mostly just hung out.
I should clarify what I mean by clowns
I know that, and haven't seen anyone cross it, unless you count dirty jokes. See, this is a good site, because I can voice my opinion to the mods and not get banned......probably. As long as I don't insult you. I guess.
Clowning is synonymous with TROLLING. I mean those who want to constantly test the limits and boundaries of their behavior versus the code of conduct.
yep, that's what I did on OS.
There is a extent to how far you can go - this is true, I passed that many times, but i still feel we should be lenient on minor offenses, otherwise we will drive EVERYONE away.
Yeah, and I've been very lenient but at the same time, we have to draw a line somewhere.
Oh Trolling? Yeah that isn't any good. I joke, I don't really troll.
Depends on what you think is minor offenses.
Indeed hero, there needs to be a line, but sometimes you let your line vary, sometimes for you it's very very small, and sometimes it's very very large. sometimes it's on par with mine.
It's hard to judge what level of strictness you are sometimes
Show me the instances where any mod action I took was for something very very small.
Sometimes I feel like your morphing into the next tkhunny, where other times I think thank god I have some help.
"Divide"
oh right it's filtered now.
._.
If you can demonstrate the one instance, then I'll grant that to you.
That word falcon made up and was using excessively. It was annoying though. I was kind of glad at that, frankly.
^
^Yes that is what i was talking about
However it was minor. Frivolous at best
Ultrilliam, you've got to be kidding. You have to come up with something else man.
It was really annoying, actually.
Legit, I'm going to harp on that for a while LOL
Falcon is.....weird.
He was being very disrespectful and it needed to be dealt with. Besides, the correct mod action was taken which was adding it to the inappropriate language filter. It's not like I suspended him for it. There were other reasons for suspending him.
Direct answers should be a negative, totally agree with this, "trolling" sure, to a extent, being rude to others should be issued 2 warnings first before suspension, or if it's a repeat offender 1 warning and then a longer suspension then the last
I don't count that as something you can use as far as very, very small. He was disrespecting and mocking me.
He was doing nothing of the sort, he was bugging you because he knew it bugged you, there really was no other meaning behind it i'll be it annoying, but nothing other then that.
Fair enough, but however, if it is a long-time user who I know, knows better, then I treat it differently. That protocol only works with new users. I know exactly what Falcon was doing and I knew it was a problem that needed to be taken care of.
You apparently don't understand what mocking is yet Ultrilliam.
Another mod that was really bad: InkyVoyd from PA. He banned me because I had Zalgo Text on my own profile. It isn't allowed here either, but on our own profiles it is. He banned me because it annoyed him when he looked at my profile.
I can see hero warning, but not banning for that...
It started a Mod war or something. Emily and Momo were ticked off about it, and there was a poll about removing inky and earl from mod. Nothing happened, obviously since they are still there.
It was the only time I was ever banned.
Warning but not banning. That defeats the purpose of punishing for repeat offenses. The intention is disrespect and I was very annoyed by the use of the word 'Sauce-derp'. It started on OS and once I saw the tradition continued here, that was it. Because once again, it's not about the word itself or what it means, it's far more about the intention behind it.
Anyways. I am gonna log off until maybe tonight or tomorrow. Nice chatting with you guys.
I see you have yet to implement the feature for posting lines of code here.
`Test`
Oh there we go
Nice chat @JustSaiyan
@Ultrilliam you should take a course or two in psychology.
Wait, why did you think it didn't work? ``` body { color:green; border-radius:10px; } ```
and I've thought about that, I'm good at mind games, but haven't taken that course. Perhaps I should, it is a elective I can choose from next year.
