yes that's correct. \[\rm \sin \theta - \cos \theta -( \color{red}{\sin^2 \theta+\cos^2\theta}+2\cos \theta \sin \theta)\] apply the fact \[\rm \color{red}{\sin^2 \theta+\cos^2 \theta =1}\]\[\rm \sin \theta - \cos \theta -( \color{red}{1}+2\cos \theta \sin \theta)\] Distribute the parentheses by -1.
So now would we just add common like terms?
