Vocaloid:

to find x through substitution, we have to re-write y in terms of x and substitute into equation 2

Vocaloid:

if: 22x - y = -23 then y = 22x + 23

Vocaloid:

if we replace "y" with "22x+ 23" in equation 2 we get: 11x + 12(22x+23) = 1 and then we can solve for x

smithm29:

ok... hold on ill try

smithm29:

i got -49?

Vocaloid:

hm, not what I got, let's try working through it step by step

smithm29:

lol k

Vocaloid:

11x + 12(22x+23) = 1 using the distributive property, A(B+C) = A*B + A*C so 12(22x + 23) = 12*22x + 12*23 = 264x + 276

Vocaloid:

that gives us: 11x + 264x + 276 = 1 can you try solving for x now?

smithm29:

I still got -49 11x+264+276=1 11x+540=1 11x=-539 divide both sides by eleven x=-49 ???

Vocaloid:

it's 264x, not 264

Vocaloid:

11x+264+276=1 275x + 276 = 1 275x = - 275 x = ?

Vocaloid:

still there?

smithm29:

yeah sorry my cousin wanted to hold the lizard lol

smithm29:

so x=-1?

Vocaloid:

yes

smithm29:

sweet

smithm29:

im gonna open another... ok?

Vocaloid:

k
