Loyalty to the older immigrants and discrimination against the newer immigrants is a very broad statement that makes it more correct. Think of it like the Americans, or even the Europeans in particular, they all wanted the land that they were able to get their hands on and didn't want anyone else to have it. So in conclusion their desires had been shown in nativism.
