Bubba:

Annabelle and Navene are multiplying (4275)(4372). Annabelle's Work (4275)(4372) = 42 + 375 + 2 = 4577 (4275) Navene's Work (4372) = 42⋅375⋅2 = 46710 Is either of them correct? Explain your reasoning.

Bubba:

neither one right?

Vocaloid:

yeah neither of them are right I have no idea what they're trying to do

Bubba:

Neither one because they are supposed to do first is (42 * 75) * (43 * 72). then they are supposed to do convert 42 and 75 to non exponent numbers, then multiply the answers (for 42 and 75 into a non existent number so each of their answers times the other), then do the same for 43 and 72. Then the final step is to multiply the last two final answers and your done! ({42*75}*[43*72] = your answer!) @Vocaloid

Bubba:

Am I right?

Vocaloid:

wait

Vocaloid:

is it 4275 * 4372 or is it 42^75 * 43^72

Bubba:

it is 42^75 * 43^72?

Vocaloid:

hm

Bubba:

is it? @Vocaloid

Vocaloid:

I'm asking you

Bubba:

yes

Vocaloid:

what is the format of the original problem?

Vocaloid:

do you have a screenshot or something

Bubba:

oh duh it is really 4275 * 4372

Vocaloid:

yeah you can't just separate this into 42 * 75 * 43 * 72

Bubba:

okay

Vocaloid:

I'm trying to think of an easy way to multiply these two numbers without using a calculator

Vocaloid:

honestly I'm not sure about this problem
