An interesting story I found
Buddy Holly, a famous singer back in the old days that you guys haven't heard of, chartered a four seat airplane in Mason City, Iowa for himself, Waylon Jennings (his guitarist), and another member of his band to avoid a long bus trip to their destination which was located in Minnesota. Waylon Jennings voluntarily gave up his seat to JP Richardson (famous singer) because JP was suffering from a flu and said that the bus trip would be too cold and uncomfortable for a man of his size. When Holly discovered that Jennings gave up his seat on the plane and rather chose to take the bus, he made a friendly joke to Jennings saying "Well, I hope your ol' bus freezes up!" Jennings replied jokingly saying "Well, I hope your ol' plane crashes!" Less than an hour and a half later, shortly after 1 am on Feb. 3rd, 1959, Holly's plane crashed at full speed into a cornfield outside Mason City, Iowa, instantly killing all four on board. The friendly joke between Buddy Holly and Waylon Jennings came back to haunt Jennings for the rest of his life.
