The normal force is the force that is perpendicular to the surface to which the object is lying. For the flat horizontal surface, the normal force is equal to the weight of the object. That is, Fn = W = mg = (990 kg) x (9.80 m/s²) = 9702 N Thus, the normal force to the car is 9702 N.
