Theme- isolation "Like one on a lonesome road/ Doth walk in fear and dread/And having once turned walks on/ And turns no more his head/ Because he knows a frightful fiend/ Doth close behind him tread" Isolation is one of the main themes in the story and is important because Characterization- Setting- On a ship to the North Pole as stated in Letter 1 “when shall I return? ……If I succeed, many, many months, perhaps years, will pass before you and I may meet. If I fail, you will see me again soon, or never.” This is an important quote because it introduces the adventure that Robert Walton will embark on. In addition, the tone is suspense. The author says “you will see me again soon, or never” to draw the reader in. Symbolism- Imagery- “I feel a cold northern breeze play upon my cheeks, which braces my nerves, and fills me with delight.” This is an example of imagery because you can picture the soft breeze blowing in Robert Walton’s face and the way he feels. The wind doesn’t “play” against his cheeks; that’s personification. In addition, this quote is important because it reveals the journey he will take. The tone is happy because Walton is excited to go on an adventure as he writes to his cousin, Mary. this is what i have so far
Are those answer choices? I'm not sure I understand the question thoroughly.
