Warriorz13:

What specific types of pollution are caused by solar panels?

Warriorz13:

@ThisGirlPretty @Vocaloid

Vocaloid:

silicon tetrachloride (to make panels) hydrofluoric acid (for cleaning)

Warriorz13:

How do they affect us? :0 I legit wanna know... I have solar panels.. but. I didn’t know they had pollution.

Vocaloid:

so soil/water/air pollution

Vocaloid:

hm

Vocaloid:

well, every type of energy produces some sort of pollution, that's just a fact of physics

Vocaloid:

solar panels use a special type of battery, which can create chemical waste in the land/water

Vocaloid:

they have to be manufactured in a plant, which comes with the usual concerns of carbon emissions

Vocaloid:

I don't think you should feel bad about it though, it's much less than burning coal/fossil fuels

Warriorz13:

Right now we have 3 solar panels that each produce 100 kWh. And we have them hooked onto our grid, and our meter slowed a little which is what we wanted, but we are soon expanding to roughly 20 panels and a small wind turbine, hoping to be able to pushing electricity back to our electric company so we can get a check in the mail.
