How to Increase Your Chances of Becoming a Mod

Vocaloid:

DISCLAIMER: There is nothing you can say or do that will GUARANTEE you becoming mod, but there are many things you can do to increase your chances. If you only remember one thing from this tutorial, let it be this: show your desire through your actions, not just your words. We have many people who ask to be mod, but few who actually deserve it.

Vocaloid:

As a bare minimum, you must be active for about a year (this does not mean you have to log on every day, just show sustained interest and activity in the site over a continuous period of time). You must stay on your best behavior (follow the rules; if a moderator gives you a warning, then change your behavior immediately before it escalates into a suspension).

Vocaloid:

It greatly helps if you can help out with questions (Math, English, and Science are your best bets) and give thoughtful explanations (not direct answers). Most people just come onto chat but we have a shortage of people who are serious about helping other students out.

Vocaloid:

Being a mod is not all fun and games; it's a lot of responsibility. Giving warnings and suspensions isn't fun but it helps improve the quality of the site. You have to have a thick skin; people will insult you and argue with you, but as mod you have to take the higher ground and cannot descend to their level. You cannot play favorites or take sides.

Vocaloid:

I'm not a perfect mod; I've made bad judgment calls and lost my temper at times. But I strive for excellence and am receptive to other peoples' feedback and criticism. I did not take this responsibility for the attention or the power, but to make this website a better experience for everyone involved. Anyway, these are my thoughts on the matter. Thank you for reading, and I wish you the best of luck in your endeavors.

Vocaloid:

TL;DR: 1. Do NOT ask to be mod. 2. Follow the rules. 3. Show interest in the site for a sustained period of time. (~ a year) 4. Contribute to the site in a positive, constructive way. 5. Have realistic expectations for what being a mod entails.
