Grant at the Appomatox Court House ·December 6th, 1865: The 13th amendment is ratified, Abolishing slavery in the United States. ·April 9th, 1866: Civil Rights Act created, guaranteeing equal rights. ·May 1-3, 1866: Memphis Race Riot. Police and white civilians kill 46 African Americans and destroy over 90 buildings. ·July 30th, 1866: New Orleans Race Riot White civilians and police kill 46 African Americans and destroy 90 houses, schools, and four churches in Memphis, Tennessee ·July 30th, 1866: Ku Klux Klan created ·1867: Reconstruction Acts created, giving African American men the right to vote.

And honestly, the only reason the US is there is to keep tensions down, if we were to pull out it would get worse than it already is. Thats why there are US forces there training rebels.
