Absolute Value Explanation

Vocaloid:

@Zeke

Vocaloid:

the most basic absolute value function looks like this: |input| = output the output must always be 0 or greater, but the input can be negative

Vocaloid:

if you have |X| = 12 (from Allison's HW) X can be -12 or 12 because: |12| = 12 |-12| = 12

Zeke:

That's where I'm getting it wrong, when |x| i thought only abaolute value can be positive. No?

Vocaloid:

the outside must be positive, but the inside can be negative or positive

Zeke:

Hm, I guess I had that wrong then.

Vocaloid:

if this helps at all I graphed it
