What did Woodrow Wilson hope his Fourteen Points would accomplish?
@Bearclaws72 @Elsa213 @ThisGirlPretty
I just did this in US History :p
Woodrow Wilson felt that a promise of peace would cause the war to end. He wanted to create a League of Nations. - Open Diplomacy - Freedom of the Seas - Removal of Trade Barriers - Armament Reductions - Central Powers evacuate occupied lands - Allow political self-determination for various nationalities - Calls for a League of Nations to protect global peace - African Americans asked for a 15th point to end racial discrimination. Wilson never responded to this. Reason of the 14 points : To keep Russia in the war by stating a more progressive purpose Drive a wedge between the government and the people of the Central Powers
Describe Woodrow Wilson's plan for world peace. Why did it fail? Give at least two reasons.

Well, the document that has been known as the Fourteen Points contained the basis of Wilson's plan to make sure that the peace that had been created during WW1 had still been there after the war. Well, the major goals had included: free trade, also the end to secret pacts between nations, freedom of the seas which is international waters, arms reduction, the forming of a world organization which is known as the League of Nations. By creating the League of Nations Wilson thought that this would prevent any future wars. Well, this plan had failed because he wasn't able to get the United States to join the League of Nations. There had been a lot of U.S Americans that said they wanted to stay out of Europe's problems. Some Republicans in the Senate hated Wilson and hoped opposition to the League would be able to help the Republicans win an election. I hope this comes to your need @22west
