I believe mental humans should be respected because many don't know their actions. They do have feelings, though and anything can have their emotions grow.

I assume then that you refer to mental illness.

1. They are your fellow man, and ought to be respected as a member of your species.
- 'It's the right thing to do'
-'Respect is always due, no matter who someone is'

2. You do not disrespect people with cancer, diabetes, or sinus infections. Why should things change just because the illness/disease resides within the mind?

3. The question of: "What if it were you?" Would you want to be disrespected, purely because of your illness. Is it something worth disrespecting someone over. I think not.

Agreed. And there are those which shame on bodily ailments as well, not pertaining to mental illness. Hopefully society can progress toward better treatment of such individuals.
