Why did Hitler want to take Stalingrad? What mistake did Hitler making up the Battle of Stalingrad? Why was this battle important?

JustSaiyan:

Hitler wanted to take Stalingrad to completely shatter Stalins credibility and gain full control, as well as cut of the British supply route nearby.

JustSaiyan:

To secure the oil fields in Caucasus as well^^^ They lost the battle for several reasons, such as harsh weather, etc. The main reason, however, the main reason is, Hitler DIVIDED his forces up while on the enemies territory. This allowed the Soviet army to easily defeat the German army.

JustSaiyan:

The Battle of Stalingrad is important because it was the last attempt from Germany to advance onto Europe and Russia, it is also the first major loss Germany had during WWII
