Please tell me what i did wrong... Find the area of the shaded portion. Show all work for full credit. https://wca.sooschools.com/media/g_geo_ccss_2016/8/groupi60.gif Area of sector= Ø/360 x πr² Where Ø is central angle r is radius Area of shaded region = area of triangles - area of sector So length of tangent = 6/tan 30 =10.4 area of triangle = 1/2 x 10.4 x 6 =31.2 Area of sector = 120/360 x 3.14 x 6² =37.7 Area of shaded region=2 x 31.2 =24.7

@Vocaloid

563blackghost:

I got all that and came out with the same answer of 24.7. Maybe its the rounding of it???

Vocaloid:

idk, perhaps they want the answer in terms of pi? :S

563blackghost:

yea that's probably it

sammirosesharp:

How would I put it in terms of pi... I dont mean to sound completely stupid. I feel like my brains fried though :(

563blackghost:

You would do the area of area of sector equation but do not apply pie into it. \(\large\bf{A=\frac{120}{360} \times 6^{2}}\) Once this is simplified you apply pi (but as it's symbol) \(\large\bf{A=12 \pi}\)

sammirosesharp:

My teacher told me this was what was wrong with it. I really dont even know how to fix it... the triangle would be 30-60-90 triangle for each half there is nothing with tan Not sure where the 10.4 came from try it again

563blackghost:

Yes it is 30-60-90 so it would set up as wanting to know the tangent so we have..... |dw:1512411890907:dw| We see we know adjacent but not the opposite so we do in fact apply tangent ratio. Thus having \(\bf{\tan 60 = \frac{x}{6}}\) where we get \(\bf{10.4}\)...I find that to be right...

sammirosesharp:

I wonder why shes saying its wrong then.. Idk im so confused. I've worked so hard on all of it all weekend just for her to say most of my work i did do was wrong.

563blackghost:

I honestly don't know, I think this is correct.

sammirosesharp:

I posted another one.. Could u just look it over and see if u see anything wrong with it?? I'm just trying to find out if theres anyway to fix the things she is saying are wrong.
