When writing your thesis statement do not, let me say that again, do not … one more time I repeat, do not say, “In this paper I will be discussing dogs and how to train them,” or “This paper is about how to train dogs.” These are boring, un-innovative, tacky, and all together unacceptable ways of writing a thesis statement. Remember the subject of your thesis statement is the topic and the predicate of your thesis statement is the controlling idea. Come up with something like, “Dogs are easily trainable.” But please, I say again, please do not say, “This paper is about…”
