Holy f*ck...

563blackghost:

i cant believe it passed ;u;

Allison:

YouTube, paying for YouTube Red is probably cheaper than that. And Netflix, I'd rather go to the freaking movies than pay 10 bucks for ONE movie. Google. What the fck. $2 for a search. Like. I have over 2,000 searches by the daily. I ain't about to pay $200 for this.

Shadow:

Why. Has physics hw and you bring up my favorite topic of today x_x

psirockin2:

I need google to function... Chem class requires it on a daily basis

AngeI:

we have a few months until it takes effect, but by they it should hopefully be stopped, multiple companies/people are already trying to sue. They are taking it to supreme court 1 min

AngeI:

ignore 1 min e.e

563blackghost:

i know >.< @psirockin2

Shadow:

I honestly do not know where those numbers come from for the searches (citation please?). But they will likely start charging you for visiting high traffic, high bandwidth sites like Netflix, Hulu, Youtube, and "other" streaming services.

Zeke:

This is retarded. The end of my opinion.

psirockin2:

But I needs free youtube and google real bad.

psirockin2:

And what's gonna happen to Schoology and Turnitin? We use those at school.

Allison:

I'm gonna legit need to Google every single thing that crosses my mind right now, and take screenshots.

AngeI:

Neflix (at least in the usa) has confirmed that they will not support this.

Shadow:

I would advise all of you to monitor the status of your ISP (Internet Service Provider) plan. If they start to charge more for these services, it can become costly. Small ISPs that are more local will likely try to capitalize on greedy ISP giants, and offer cheaper plans. Get those cheaper ISP plans.

psirockin2:

Sir yes sir

Allison:

Wait, so Spectrum can charge me without me knowing until I get my bill?

AngeI:

Once this is fully enabled (if it is not stopped we have about a few months) they will have the ability to control what you can see on the internet, charge you for what they see fit and even control your internet speed (to a certain extent) and some other things.

psirockin2:

But senators, what about Cool Math?

Ultrilliam:

If this does go through, I think I should be fine, I have Cox, Cox is usually a good company with good policies and often do charity work. (especially in vegas)

Ultrilliam:

Also, RIP Privacy.

Allison:

Ultrilliam, if you want us to be on your website, we'd have to pay. So. If this happens, you're paying for us to keep this website alive. e.e I'll refresh every 5 seconds just for fun though. :'D

That is something I am still unaware of - if they need to notify you. If someone knows about this, please do post on this thread. Recommended reads if you want to know more. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/12/14/technology/net-neutrality-rules.html A good overview and explanation for net neutrality, and it's repeal. https://www.dailywire.com/news/18613/7-reasons-net-neutrality-idiotic-aaron-bandler Ignore the title. The article brings up interesting points and goes over what will likely happen after it being repealed (since it was written in July). https://www.dailywire.com/news/24693/watch-ben-shapiros-interview-fcc-chairman-ajit-pai-daily-wire Interview with the FCC Chairman who spearheaded this repeal. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/12/14/technology/net-neutrality-repeal-vote.html https://www.nytimes.com/2017/12/14/opinion/net-neutrality-china-internet.html Keep in mind that the above link is an opinion. For those that are passionate about the internet, it may be more of an interesting read. Also, Congress is moving on this with a bill that was first introduced on the 7th of this month (since they knew it would likely be repealed). https://www.congress.gov/bill/115th-congress/house-bill/4585/text
