I would suppose it could relate in the way that even though organisms look different and have different traits, they are all made of the same stuff. And that stuff, is gushy love answers that the teachers will eat up like German chocolate. It mostly relates to self replication though, which can explain why there are different breeds of the same organism, that simply adapted to a different habitat.
