The Industrial Revolution was the transaction from small businesses manufacturing by hand to new manufacturing processes in and around 1760 to 1840. The main idea was to put out as much product as possible or quick as possible to make more money. The Industrial Revolution changed the economy because more product was put out and more jobs were created. Unskilled workers could easily get a job that would take the place of skilled workers. This mass production changed how American's lived. Making many leave their farms and coming to the city to work in these factories or facilities. The main people who benefited from the Industrial Revolution was the rich, it made them richer and have more profit. The ones who didn't benefit from the Industrial Revolution was the skilled workers & men because they could pay the unskilled workers less money to get the same job done. The American society changed drastically because of this. It became more urbanized, this became chaotic for family life, with children and woman working full long hours, and not be able at home together as a family. No time left for families to spend family moments as before the Industrial Revolution began. Working outside of home created its own set of problems, such as safety, violence & relationship issues. Child labor with no kind of laws to protect how many hours they've worked or how they were treated. Politically the impact was huge, many people with means invested or created in the ideas that became mass produced. These people became richer and did not really care about the workers or the work conditions. This caused some political change, making new laws and creating labor unions. Soon woman campaigned for voting-rights, laws for conditions in the work areas and labor unions to be formed. So the Industrial Revolution started and moved along rapidly, too rapidly. It was good and bad, the good was the creating of more jobs for the many people who needed them. Cities grew larger, products became more available, and a new social society developed, “The Middle Class.” But the downside of the Industrial Revolution was that the population in the cities grew to fast, housing was scarce, and what was available was in a poor run down condition and cost was just as bad. The work conditions were bad also. It became clear that doing the same thing over-and-over caused people to concentrate and accidents accrued. This also was because of spending long hours at work. Safety hazards accrued regularly. New laws had to be put in place to help with these issues. Because of the rapid growth, things got out of control, no one thought ahead to implement safety conditions and labor issues. Now they were forced to get these things under control. In conclusion, America was put on the biggest and best industrial giants. This is what caused American to become the powerhouse that it is today. Many people from other countries came to America to become prosperous as us.
