Haha, I live on O'ahu so this one is quite easy. When Japan bombed Pearl harbor, this brought the Unite States of America into World War II.

563blackghost:

The United States wanted no part of WW2 and wanted to keep neutrality, but Japan had launched an attack on Pearl Habor that was one of the most gruesome days of US history, this brought the US into the war.

Shadow:

The U.S. Pacific Fleet was stationed in Pearl Harbor. They took out many ships, most notably the U.S.S. Arizona. @563blackghost brings up a good point though. For both world wars, the United States of America wanted no part of it, and sought to stay out of them. But when they were brought in for one reason or another, they became the deciding factor of the war.

Yeah, but there is a beautiful memorial out there in the harbor that I have visited several times. It's over the water, and below you can still see the remnants of the battleship.
