8/-4 divided by -3/9
@ThisGirlPretty
pls help
Hmmm @Vocaloid
gonna see what tiger says then I'll step in if needed
Alright so we know we can't have negitive denominators. The whole fraction must be negitive or positive. So what do we do here>
Well, 8/-4 is the same as -8/4 right?
Not exactly. -8/4 is the whole negitve. 8/-4 is just the negitive 4. This is not the same.
So what do we need to do to divide these?
They need to have the same denominator right?
Idk, sorry, I'm really bad at math.
No, they need to both be positive denominators.
Oh. Okay.
Is the answer 6?
so we take \[8/-4 \div -3/9 and flip \it \to 8/4\div3/9\]
\[8/4\div3/9= 6\]
But we still need one more thing to make this answer correct.
What do we need to do?
Add back in the negative signs?
Correct! So the answer would be \[-6\]
Thank you!
@Vocaloid correct me if I'm wrong
a negative number divided by a negative number is positive (the negative signs cancel out) so 6 not -6
Thank you voca. I totally forgot about that
otherwise, well done
Thank you ^^;
You guys are great at math! Thank you!
