Okay, so I would say that answer is right because he's been through so much things that a simple thing like treatment won't help him at all. He's been thorugh 12 years of abuse. DO you really think 12 years of abuse would help him become a more balanced and normal person?

The first option does not work because once an event, always an event.
The second does not work either because abuse is abuse, and no event of abuse is more horrible than something else if you know what I mean.
