not sure about the first one but I know if you solve a/c = f/a you don't get a^2 = bc, try cross-multiplying again similar triangles may not necessarily have congruent sides - (otherwise they'd be congruent not just similar) - if they have something like "proportional" or "corresponding" that would be a better answer
