Which of the following is an example of post hoc? Basing a conclusion on insufficient evidence Identifying only two options and ignoring others Citing a source who is not an expert on the topic Incorrectly suggesting that one thing caused another <<<<
Do you know what post hoc means?
not really :P
That's kind of necessary .-.
In the lesson it says "A logical fallacy in which we assume that because B comes after A, A caused B. The Latin translates to "after this, therefore, because of this." Also known as false cause :P
So basically correlation doesn't imply causation.
Knowing the definition, are you confident with your answer?
@ThisGirlPretty ?
I don't think I am >. <
Why not?
I used process of elimination with the definition and was thinking if it would be the last one >.<
Look at D: Incorrectly suggesting that one thing caused another Basically 'one thing caused another thing' Your lesson definition: "A logical fallacy in which we assume that because B comes after A, A caused B." My simplified definition: "Correlation is not causation" Basically just because there is a relationship between two things, it doesn't mean that one caused the other.
Process of Elimination Basing a conclusion on insufficient evidence - ignorance Identifying only two options and ignoring others - ignorance Citing a source who is not an expert on the topic - argument from authority, "I am not an expert therefore I cannot speak on this"
It is perfectly fine to cite a source from someone who is not an expert. Anyone can read a book, and talk about a topic. That's why the argument from authority is fallacious as well.
Are you confident with your answer?
I am now :D
Okay good :)
Thank you so much planar! :)
