Geometry help please?
i used to know how to do this ;-;. I'm sorry i can't help you
@563blackghost @dude
It's alright @Pixel, thank you though anyways. :)
Well, the first one is literally given, so you just write 'given'. The second one is something called Vertical Angle Theorem |dw:1519167172671:dw| Where angle A=A', and angle B=B'. Now that you know 2 angles are the same for ABC and DBE, you use something called the Angle-Angle Postulate to prove 2 triangles are SIMILAR. The teacher taught you this right?
Yes they did, but just a heads up, I missed out on 2 years of math so im behind in the know how department. If you're able to, could you help me with 2 more problems please? @mhchen
yah just post them
Thanks so much.
Okay, so it looks like they put numbers on 2 sides of both triangles, and they give you an angle. So we're gonna try to prove it using the Side-Angle-Side Postulate...
Okay
Okay, so it shows us that there's a right-angle on the top, and it's connected with both triangles. So we can already say that there's a congruent angle. Now we need to determine if the 2 sides have the same ratio...
Basically, |dw:1519169271716:dw|
|dw:1519169376929:dw|
So as you can see the 12 on the left triangle, is like the 6 on the right triangle. the 18 on the left triangle, is like the 8 on the right triangle. But 12/6 = 2 and 18/8 = 2.25 So they're different
If they had the same ratio, then they would be similar by Side-Angle-Side, but since they're different, they are NOT similar triangles.
Okay I understand, so the would be that they are not similar.
Okay so the 2 similar triangles are like this: |dw:1519169772360:dw| You basically set up this ratio: \[\frac{5}{7} = \frac{x}{28}\] Can you solve that?
x=20
Yeah. That's basically it
awesome, thank you so much for the help i really appreciate it
