No my directions just say there must be an abstract page

An abstract is just a short summary of what your essay is about.

That is all? No specific requirements involved? People have been telling me multiple things which is why I decided to ask here

It's usually short and concise. No unnecessarily flowery language, just a brief summary. The reason why is because when you search for academic papers on the internet, you'll find the abstracts as the "selling piece" for their paper. It's meant to entice the reader to read (usually by having to purchase) the paper.
