woolyfrog:

Hey, I need help with my phone! Does anyone know a lot about sim cards?

ThisGirlPretty:

@Ultrilliam @JustSaiyan

woolyfrog:

thx

woolyfrog:

its not technical or like rocket science its something simple

JustSaiyan:

What specifically do you want to know about them?

woolyfrog:

So I broke my phone, and I had phone numbers in there I don't know if I changed my phone number maybe I did and I found my broken phone again (it only has a cracked screen) and the sim card isn't in there will my phone numbers still be there?

JustSaiyan:

Yeah

woolyfrog:

ok thanks lol simple yeah

woolyfrog:

what does a sim card do?

JustSaiyan:

I thought it was gonna be something complicated, like formats and such.

woolyfrog:

haha

JustSaiyan:

A sim card is what is used to make calls and send texts, and is given by your phone service. An SD Card is a removable storage drive.

woolyfrog:

oh so the SD card has all my phone numbers, photos, etc ?

JustSaiyan:

It should have a copy, yes, if you chose to copy them.

woolyfrog:

so a phone has 2 SD cards? one is the normal and another a copy?

JustSaiyan:

It has the internal one for applications and stuff. The second would be the expandable storage card, which is removable, while the first isn't.

woolyfrog:

so the second one has my phone number and photos?

JustSaiyan:

It might, or it might not, it depends on your phone settings.

JustSaiyan:

If you connect your phone to your computer, you can get the files from it

woolyfrog:

oh so if i take out the SD card the photos and numbers will still be on my phone and on the SD card?

JustSaiyan:

On the phone, most definitely. On the SD, maybe. Like I said, it depends on the settings.

woolyfrog:

how do i know the settings lol?

woolyfrog:

impossible :p

JustSaiyan:

It wouldn't hurt to check the SD card.

woolyfrog:

i gotta brb for a couple mins, but if someone changes their phone number but i still have there old number is it possible to get their new number?

woolyfrog:

also why do people change phone numbers?

JustSaiyan:

Various reasons, to hide from people, too lazy to keep your old one. And no, I don't think you can use their old number to get their new one.

woolyfrog:

Okay thanks

Ultrilliam:

Ok let me explain what a sim card actually is. A SIM card will not contain your number's, however changing phones, if you backed your contacts list up to the cloud, will still be there A SIM card is basically a number stored on a chip, that identifies your phone, and gives you permission to use a certain carriers network. This number can of course be revoked at any time.

woolyfrog:

@Ultrilliam what do you mean revoked?

Ultrilliam:

Incase you didn't pay your bill or something, the access that number has could be revoked

woolyfrog:

would I still be able to see the phone numbers? I had

woolyfrog:

.

woolyfrog:

ultrill

Ultrilliam:

Only if you synced it with the cloud

woolyfrog:

ok, also I think I forgot the password for my phone is there another way to unlock it?

woolyfrog:

my broken phone*

Ultrilliam:

Not really no, not without wiping the phone, or using USB debugging and some coding to reset it

woolyfrog:

How hard is it to code and debug it?

Ultrilliam:

Well considering you would need to find a hole in androids security, that depends on the last time you updated your phone

woolyfrog:

It's an Iphone 6 plus.

woolyfrog:

probably very old update meaning that my iphone 6 hasn't had an update in the past 1-2 years.

woolyfrog:

so its not possible to go to the apple store and ask them to unlock it?

Ultrilliam:

Nope, unfortunately... And I don't know if and apple security holes to remove passwords (even though their OS is like swiss cheese) @dude you have any ideas?

woolyfrog:

lol

dude:

You can hard reset it, do you have access to an apple computer or any computer with iTunes?

woolyfrog:

yea

woolyfrog:

does a hard reset remove anything?

dude:

Yes it will, have you backed your phone up using iCloud?

woolyfrog:

no

woolyfrog:

and if I did i wouldn't know how to access it.

JustSaiyan:

In other words, it's exactly how I described it. ._.

woolyfrog:

ill try and see if i can unlock my phone with a passcode and if not ill try the SD card.

woolyfrog:

hopefully all my phone numbers are on the SD card and have the names cause i cant memorize phone numbers of whose who's lol

JustSaiyan:

You can unlock the phone without the password easy, but it will erase everything on it.

woolyfrog:

rip

woolyfrog:

will the SD card have the phone number names?

JustSaiyan:

Like I said yesterday, it might, it might not. It depends if you chose to back them up to the SD card. Just go look.

woolyfrog:

Okay

dude:

I don't think iPhones have SD Card slots e.e

woolyfrog:

do iphone have sd card slots JustSayen?

woolyfrog:

......

JustSaiyan:

I wouldn't know, I hate apple, it's trash, XD

woolyfrog:

r1p

dude:

It doesn't x'D You only have a SIM Card slot

woolyfrog:

oh well ill try to remember the passcode then.

JustSaiyan:

Another reason why Apple is trash.

JustSaiyan:

No expandable storage.

woolyfrog:

dun dun dun

dude:

We're here to help Saiyan no need to rant XD

JustSaiyan:

Oh yeah.

woolyfrog:

well ill get back to you guys once i try to unlock the iphone with random passcodes

woolyfrog:

hopefully i picked something easy.

JustSaiyan:

How many digits is the passcode limit, and is it only numbers?

woolyfrog:

4 digits

JustSaiyan:

There are only 10,000 possible combinations. You got this. 👍

woolyfrog:

;(

woolyfrog:

lol Hopefully God helps me remember.

JustSaiyan:

Try numbers that have some sort of significance to you.

JustSaiyan:

And of course, try 0000 and 1234

woolyfrog:

yea i have 1 number that can really be it so hopefully im right

woolyfrog:

hah yeah

JustSaiyan:

Also, for in the future, making all of your passwords the exact same thing would be easier, like a master password. That is what I do.

woolyfrog:

yeah

Ultrilliam:

Apple sucks, go for android next time! =P

woolyfrog:

:P

JustSaiyan:

👌
