vaporeon246:

I just need help on 2, 4, and 5b

Mehek:

So for 2 we will use the distance formula. Are you familiar with it?

vaporeon246:

yes

Mehek:

Ok so the origin is (0, 0)

Mehek:

8 units right and 12 units up is (8, 12)

Mehek:

So we use these two coordinates \(\large{\sqrt{(12-0)^2+(8-0)^2}}\)

vaporeon246:

ok got it

Mehek:

And then just round to the nearest tenth and you got your answer

Mehek:

no not quite

Mehek:

\(\sqrt{144-64}\) = \(\sqrt{80}\) simplify that

Mehek:

get it in decimals not simplified radical form

vaporeon246:

ok

vaporeon246:

got 8.94

vaporeon246:

so for 4 i would do the same thing basically right?

Mehek:

round to the nearest tenth that would be 8.9

Mehek:

yeah you would find the distance first but then after you have to find out how long it would take

Mehek:

And for 5b find the ordered pair for both and then find the distance

vaporeon246:

Oh ok Thank you for your help @Mehek

Mehek:

You're welcome :}
