math help plz http://prntscr.com/ioazsl

Vocaloid:

for x^2 - 9 = 55 we can isolate x^2 by adding 9 to both sides, then take the square root of x, keep in mind you will have two solutions, one positive one negative

8bithelix:

ok

8bithelix:

sooo 8 and -8

Vocaloid:

yup good for 2 subtract 8 from both sides so you get 0 on the right hand side, then factor

8bithelix:

this is what i got: 2.828427125 and -2.828427125.

Vocaloid:

actually, I just realized that the left side doesn't factor after you subtract 8 whoops let's leave the 8 alone and just factor (x^2 +4x + 4) into (x+2)^2 (x+2)^2 = 8, take the square root of both sides, then isolate x by subtracting 2 from both sides leave your answer in radical form, don't round to a decimal
