shasha12:

Did I order these mixed fractions, and negative mixed fractions from greatest to least correctly?

Shadow:

Do you know what absolute value is?

Shadow:

If you don't know, just tell me and I can help you :)

shasha12:

i dont know

Shadow:

Absolute value is basically a numbers distance from zero. It is indicated by these two lines: || |5| basically says 'what is the absolute value of 5' or "what is the distance from 5 to 0.' You can count on a number line, but it's 5. Sames goes for |-5|. It is 5 places from zero. Some people look at absolute value and just think you turn negative numbers into positives. But it's better to know the reasoning behind the concept. With that, if we look at your numbers, all of them are asking for the absolute value. Now, negative numbers are less than value of positive numbers, as they are below zero. But, a distance cannot be negative. Therefore the absolute value of any number will be positive. Thus, all of these numbers, after coming out of the || brackets, will be positive. Thus the order would be different.

thanks

Shadow:

With that, it should look like this: http://prntscr.com/ioxlsj

Shadow:

You had the right idea though, if there wasn't any absolute value brackets.
