there are 21 possibilities to choose for the first position, after we choose the first student, we only have 20 students left to the other two positions, and after we choose the second student, we have 19 students left

for the number of combinations, do you remember if would we multiply 21 * 20 * 19 or add 21 + 20 + 19?
