gsmith2002:

A quadratic equation of the form 0 = ax2 + bx + c has one real number solution. Which could be the equation? 0 = 2x2 – 4x + 1 0 = 2x2 – 5x + 3 0 = –2x2 – 4x – 2 0 = –2x2 – 3x – 1

Shadow:

@gsmith2002 Do you know what the discriminant is?

Shadow:

\[(b^2 - 4ac)\] That is the discriminant. Basically what you want to do is find a, b, and c of each equation, then input them into the above expression. Let that expression = D If D is greater than 0 we have two real solutions If D is less than 0 we have two complex solutions If D = 0 then we have one real solutions.

Shadow:

Does that make sense?

Shadow:

So do you already know how to do this?

Shadow:

But do you know how to do this problem on your own?

Shadow:

Just wanted clarification. We're not here to do work that you know how to do, but don't want to do. That's selfish and inconsiderate of others. If you know how to do this concept, then I don't see why you're on a homework help site except to abuse others to complete your own work. I would advise against do this in the future.

dude:

I'd advise that you not say that to a mod :)
