@dude

dude:

Do you know what Mendels experiment was?

Nicole:

Gregor Mendel developed the model of heredity that now bears his name by experiments on various charactersitics of pea plants: height (tall vs. Short); seed color (yellow vs. Green); seat coat (smooth vs. wrinkled), etc.

dude:

What was he measuring?

Nicole:

Population?

dude:

No

Nicole:

I'm not sure

dude:

He was testing traits that were passed

Nicole:

Oh yes...so I think the answer is b

Nicole:

Am I correct?

Nicole:

@dude @TheSmartOne

TheSmartOne:

Let's say T is dominant for tall and t is recessive and short What kind of plant do you get off you have Tt? tt?

Nicole:

If you have Tf, im not sure. But if you have tt, it would be recessive which is short.

Nicole:

Tt*

TheSmartOne:

So when you have one recessive and one dominant, the dominant shows up. HOWEVER, you still have a recessive allele. You're going to be tall. What do you think the answers is now knowing that? Remember don't overthink the question

Nicole:

I think it's A or B LOL

Nicole:

Can't choose one

TheSmartOne:

Do you know about the punnet square? Are recessive traits always hidden? What if you have two parents with Tt?

Nicole:

Oh no they are not always hidden, with that said, I think A

TheSmartOne:

Do you know what a punnet square is?

Nicole:

The Punnett square is a square diagram that is used to predict an outcome of a particular cross or breeding experiment.

TheSmartOne:

Look, that definition is all nice, but it's worthless if you don't know what it means.

Nicole:

Yes I do know what a punnett square means...

TheSmartOne:

So can you draw out what the chances are for two parents with Tt

Nicole:

|dw:1521132781943:dw| Like this?

TheSmartOne:

Great, so can you see that there's a chance one child could be TT or it could be the?

Nicole:

tt

TheSmartOne:

Yes, TT or tt. That was a typo

TheSmartOne:

But do you see how something from the father and something from the mother can come. So there is some sort of combination

TheSmartOne:

If you understand the basics of what Mendell proved, you can figure out what the correct answer is

Nicole:

D?

Nicole:

It's timed LOL....Am I correct?

TheSmartOne:

Yes, is this a test haha? xD

Nicole:

Yea it's a quiz LOL

TheSmartOne:

Oh mhmm Also for the record, when someone asks you something, try to explain it in your own words. Copy pasting from somewhere else doesn't tell us what you know. It just tells us your skill if googling. And we're not asking you about it because we don't know and are hoping that you could enlighten us :b

Nicole:

Ok lol
