help @vocaloid

kaylak:

I need more added

Vocaloid:

(I'm not sure what level of detail would be acceptable for AP-level but) I would probably mention that G-coupled protein receptors, upon binding to ligands, separate into subunits , diffuse across the membrane, and activate adenyl cyclase which then releases many cAMP molecules which can target many proteins in the cell. You should also mention the term "signal amplification" since it's this phenomenom in particular that allows low concentrations of receptor to result in a large cell response.

kaylak:

I need help explaining the olfactory part I have the description for part 1 @Vocaloid

Vocaloid:

I don't really remember much about this specifically but I guess you could mention that certain molecules (odorants) are ligands that bind to the olfactory receptors, etc.

kaylak:

I am using my book but it only mentions hearing

Vocaloid:

http://www.biology-pages.info/O/Olfaction.html I hope this helps, it talks a bit more about the types of cells/molecules/etc. that are specifically involved in the olfactory pathway

kaylak:

my book does mention the process of cell signaling if that works

Vocaloid:

yeah, that's fine, the important part they want you to answer is about cell-signaling, how gpcrs amplify signals, etc. you can include information about the olfactory pathway but that's not the main focus imo

kaylak:

ill show you my response in a moment lol

kaylak:

this good

Vocaloid:

it doesn't really flow well, the first sentence is a fragment and you are missing key information that links the facts together

kaylak:

what key information and ill fix the first sentence

Vocaloid:

for example, "diffuses" through what?

Vocaloid:

also you just put the sentence about signal tranduction is just smashed in the middle of the paragraph, the sentence before it doesn't lead up to it well

kaylak:

I just fixed that any other places

kaylak:

i see what you mean

Vocaloid:

anyway, the facts are there, they just need to be reworded so one idea flows naturally into the next

kaylak:

i'm fixing it

kaylak:

could you proofread my other essay response in a minute

Vocaloid:

I'm not 100% confident but I'll give it a try

kaylak:

I really want them to be separate paragraphs at that point but if i press enter it will try to submit work. I'll just space it till I get a new paragraph.

Vocaloid:

would it be possible to copy it into a word document, or does the software not allow that

kaylak:

I got it

kaylak:

thank you so much for your help

Vocaloid:

it's a good attempt so far, I would just make sure to include some relevant terminology like, there are ~receptors~ on the dendrite that bind to the neurotransmitters that are acting as chemical signals, etc. it's a little repetitive right now

kaylak:

are these correct mainly #4 idk

kaylak:

@Vocaloid

Vocaloid:

3 and 4 look good to me I'm actually not sure about 5 but if you feel confident go ahead ^^" it doesn't seem like ion gated channel since the description doesn't mention anything about a channel opening in response to an electrochemical gradient/signal

kaylak:

it was d for 5

Vocaloid:

ah, that was my suspicion but I didn't want to mislead you :S whoops

kaylak:

it's okay lol
